Academic & Executive-Function Coaching
Sometimes knowing the academic material isn't the biggest challenge. Students may understand what they need to do but struggle with planning, organization, time management, starting assignments, or keeping track of responsibilities.
Academic coaching can provide individualized support with:
Organization and planning
Time management
Assignment tracking
Breaking large assignments into manageable steps
Study strategies
Establishing productive routines
Preparing for tests and long-term projects
Executive-function skills
Self-advocacy
Building greater academic independence
The goal is not simply to keep a student organized for today, but to help them develop strategies they can increasingly use on their own.
Individual Tutoring
One-on-one tutoring tailored to each student's learning needs, current skill level, and academic goals.
Support is available in areas including:
Reading and reading comprehension
English language arts and writing
Middle-school mathematics

Selected science courses

Sessions focus on understanding—not simply completing assignments. Instruction is adjusted to the student's strengths, learning needs, and pace, with an emphasis on developing skills that can be used more independently over time.
SAT & ACT Test Preparation
Preparing for the SAT or ACT doesn't have to mean using the same study plan for every student. Test preparation at The Learning Heart is individualized around each student's strengths, areas for growth, goals, and learning style.
Sessions may include:
Targeted review of tested academic skills
SAT and ACT test-taking strategies
Guided practice with test-style questions
Pacing and time-management strategies
Practice-test review and analysis
Identifying strengths and areas that need additional attention
Strategies for approaching challenging or unfamiliar questions
Building confidence and familiarity with the testing process
Developing an individualized study plan
College Essay Coaching
A strong college essay should sound like the student—not like a template. The Learning Heart provides individualized guidance throughout the writing process while helping students develop an essay that reflects their experiences, ideas, and authentic voice.
Coaching may include:
Brainstorming possible topics
Identifying meaningful experiences and themes
Organizing ideas and developing a clear structure
Creating a strong opening
Drafting and revising
Improving clarity, flow, and word choice
Grammar, mechanics, and final editing
Responding to supplemental essay prompts
Staying organized and on schedule during the application process
Students remain the authors of their own work. My role is to ask questions, provide feedback, and help students communicate their ideas more clearly and confidently.
The goal is a polished essay that is authentic, thoughtful, and genuinely reflects the student behind the application.
